The 11th Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo witnessed a significant success as 23 countries participated in Zimbabwe’s premier travel and tourism expo. Over 150 buyers arrived the country from various parts of the world and some of them were part of a pre-expo tour group which went on a familiarization trip of some places, while the rest are scheduled to go on a post-expo tour one the expo ends.
According to the organizers, this year’s event has recorded a 4.6% increase in the number of exhibiting companies from last year.
The Sanganai/Hlanganani 2018 began on Wednesday Sept 5 with the commemoration of the life of the late Icon, Vice President and Father Zimbabwe, Dr. Joshua M. Nkomo through the J.M. Nkomo Tourism Heritage Trails. A walk to mark the centenary celebrations was organized in Bulawayo with a procession through some historic sites starting from the Blue Lagoon, to Stanley Square, J.M Nkomo Statue before ending at the City Hall. Residence of the the host city of Sanganai for the past couple of years, Bulawayo known as the City of Kings trooped out en mass to join the procession.
The official opening of Sanganai 2018 took place on Thursday, Sept 6, while the award ceremony took place on Friday Sept 7 in the evening. The 11th Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo comes to an end on Saturday Sept 8 with a Chefs Cookout Competition.
