Anantara Tented Camp Kafue River Bags Top Honors at 2025 LIV Hospitality Design Awards

Kafue National Park, Zambia – Even before its official opening, the Anantara Tented Camp Kafue River is making waves on the global stage. The luxury retreat has secured three prestigious accolades at the sixth edition of the LIV Hospitality Design Awards, highlighting its emergence as a new benchmark for sustainable luxury and architectural innovation.

In a highly competitive year featuring over 600 submissions from 64 countries, the camp was recognized in both the Architecture and Interior Design categories. Most notably, the project earned the “Jury’s Pick” distinction—an exclusive honor reserved for entries that achieve a score of 80 points or higher out of 100.

Award-Winning Design

The camp’s victory spans three specific honors:

  • Architecture – Living Space – Lodge
  • Interior Design – Living Space – Africa (designed by Meg Ralph Spaces)
  • Jury’s Pick

The LIV Hospitality Design Awards jury, composed of world-leading architects, designers, and industry experts, praised the project for its ability to blend immersive luxury with a deep respect for its natural surroundings.

Harmony with Nature

The design of Anantara Kafue River is a masterclass in “light-footprint” architecture. To protect the delicate ecosystem of Zambia’s Kafue National Park, the camp is elevated 3.5 meters above the ground on rosewood timber platforms. This allows for seasonal water flow and ensures that local wildlife can move unhindered beneath the structures.

The exclusive camp will feature:

  • Nine luxury villas
  • Three Horizon Terrace Suites
  • A flagship Presidential Villa

“These selections reflect a broad spectrum of design excellence—from immersive restaurant environments and cultural narratives to serene resort sanctuaries and innovative spatial concepts rooted in place and purpose.” — LIV Hospitality Design Awards Jury

Looking Ahead

Set to officially open its doors in June 2026, Anantara Tented Camp Kafue River promises to offer an unparalleled safari experience that prioritizes both guest privacy and environmental stewardship. With these latest awards, the camp has firmly established itself as one of the most anticipated hospitality openings in Africa.
