Destination Uganda Remain Fully Open Despite On-going Election Cycle
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has stated that the on-going election cycle in the country will not affect tourism. The tourism body made this known via a press release issued today Friday 9 January 2026, informing “all visitors that the country remains fully open for tourism during the ongoing election cycle.”
The statement reads further, “Leading to the elections, Uganda has continued to enjoy a calm and stable environment across all tourism areas, including national parks, wildlife reserves, cultural sites, cities, adventure and hospitality establishments. Tourism activities are proceeding normally, with hotels, lodges, tour operators, attractions, and transport services operating without disruption.”
It assures that the government of Uganda has put in place adequate security measures to ensure the safety of both citizens and visitors across the country on the day of election. Going further, the statement reiterates that “UTB continues to work closely with relevant government agencies as well as the private sector to ensure seamless visitor experiences across the country.”
Tourists and visitors to “The Pearl of Africa” are encouraged to proceed with their travel plans as scheduled. They are also encouraged to check with Uganda Tourism Board website for any updates, or visit UTB’s verified communication platforms on social media for timely and accurate information.
