Fun Day at Kronenzicht Gardens, Bulawayo Where Fun Knows No Age
One might think we’re talking about a destination in Germany or the Netherlands — when in actual fact, I’m talking about a place located just a stone’s throw away from where I live in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Mind-boggling, right? The pictures will tell the tale.
Kronenzicht Gardens is a majestic place located 14 km from the Bulawayo CBD. It’s a rising events venue that has become a home away from home — for me and for many who can relate. From weddings and church gatherings to fun days like the one recently held on the 15th of February, it’s clear that this is a place worth exploring and experiencing.
Now, here’s a fun fact. The word “Kronenzicht” is actually rooted in South African heritage — the name originates from the Afrikaans and Germanic languages, with “Kronen” meaning “Crowns” and “zicht” meaning “view,” giving us “Crown View.” Interestingly, there is a well-known Kronenzicht Estate in Hout Bay, Cape Town, celebrated for its magnificent mountain and ocean views. It seems whoever named our very own Kronenzicht Gardens in Bulawayo had a similar vision in mind — a place of grandeur, beauty, and a view to behold. And honestly? It delivers. The fresh air alone is enough to make you want to stay forever. I would encourage anyone visiting the City of Kings and Queens to put Kronenzicht Gardens firmly on their itinerary.

From the roaring of quad bikes to the swimming pool, then a turn left to a jumping castle filled with kids squealing in delight — it was a fun day they had all been looking forward to. The kids really enjoyed the break from school and familiar home environments. The weather was a little chilly, but it didn’t stop the little ones from diving into the waters. My younger cousin was no exception. All the way from home, she was busy talking about going for a swim, swim gear in hand and everything.
And let’s not forget the braai area. The older ones — from the youth to the adults — were busy cooking up a storm. Every age group was represented, and the energy was infectious. I even spotted some of the mothers trying out a spin on the quad bikes, and it hit me: there’s no time like the present. Age is no factor when it comes to having fun and embracing new experiences. The photography was also top-notch — all credit to the pictures.
Here’s what makes Kronenzicht Gardens stand out beyond the fun: the place is clearly well-loved and well-kept. The manicured lawns, shaded spots, pool area, chalets, and ablution facilities all speak to a venue that takes pride in what it offers. Tucked far enough from the noise of the CBD yet close enough to keep transport costs reasonable, it hits a sweet spot that not many venues can claim.
Whether you’re planning a wedding, a church event, a birthday, or simply a day out with the family — this place has you covered. So the next time you’re wondering where to go in Bulawayo, let Kronenzicht Gardens be the answer. But enough from me — let the pictures do the talking!
