Ghana Tourism Collaborate with Police Service on Safety Ahead of December Season

As part of sustained efforts to guarantee the safety and security of all activities scheduled under the December in GH calendar, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has held a high-level coordination meeting with event organisers and the Ghana Police Service at the Ghana Police Headquarters. This was made known via a news report on 19 December 2025.

This engagement marks the second security coordination meeting convened by the Authority, reinforcing the firm resolve of the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, to ensure that all December in GH events are incident-free, well-coordinated, and securely managed. Under her leadership, safety has been positioned as a non-negotiable pillar of Ghana’s festive tourism strategy.

The meeting was led on behalf of the CEO, Maame Efua Houadjeto, by the three Deputy Chief Executive Officers, supported by some Directors of the Authority. Event organisers were taken through comprehensive security requirements, including crowd control, emergency preparedness, risk assessment, and structured collaboration with the Ghana Police Service before, during, and after events.

The Ghana Police Service assured stakeholders of its readiness to deploy adequate personnel and logistics across event venues nationwide, adopting intelligence-led and preventive security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful festive season for residents, visitors, and tourists.

Discussions were practical, solution-driven, and forward-looking, reflecting a shared commitment between the GTA, the Ghana Police Service, and event organisers to safeguard lives and property while protecting Ghana’s reputation as a safe and attractive destination during peak tourism periods.

The Ghana Tourism Authority expressed its appreciation to the Ghana Police Service for its continued partnership and professionalism, and urged event organisers to strictly comply with agreed security protocols.

With these coordinated measures firmly in place, the Authority is confident that December in GH will deliver memorable, world-class events anchored on safety, order, and exceptional visitor experience—further strengthening Ghana’s position as Africa’s leading festive and cultural destination.
