ITB Berlin 2026: How Uganda Took Centre Stage with Cultural Spectacle

The Pearl of Africa Didn’t Just Exhibit — They Performed, Danced, and Conquered ITB Berlin

As ITB Berlin 2026 draws to a close, Uganda leaves an indelible mark on the global travel stage. Held from 3–5 March 2026 at Berlin ExpoCenter City, the event marked the 60th anniversary of the world’s leading travel trade show — a milestone under the motto “Discover the stories behind 60 years of legacy”.

Backed by the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Berlin, the East African nation captivated attendees with its spectacular landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, and deeply rooted cultural heritage — solidifying its position as a must-visit destination in 2026 and beyond.

A Tapestry of Tradition and Biodiversity

The Uganda stand became a living showcase of the nation’s remarkable diversity. Representatives and participants arrived in striking traditional attire representing tribes from across the country — a visual celebration of cultural depth, biodiversity, and national unity that turned heads and sparked conversations. This presence aligned with the East African Community’s (EAC) regional “Visit East Africa — Feel the Vibe” initiative, which promotes sustainable tourism across member states including Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Captivating Performances

Traditional Ugandan dancers took center stage, flooding the exhibition hall with rhythm, color, and infectious energy. Their authentic performances drew crowds, offering a firsthand glimpse into Uganda’s living heritage — transporting audiences, if only briefly, from Berlin’s bustling pavilions to the lush heart of the “Pearl of Africa.” With nearly 6,000 exhibitors from 160 countries present, Uganda’s cultural presence stood out in a global field.

Driving Global Tourism Interest

The immersive showcase generated strong momentum for Uganda’s tourism sector, drawing significant interest from:

  • International Buyers seeking fresh, distinctive travel packages for a growing eco-tourism market.
  • Travel Partners eager to forge new relationships with Ugandan tour operators and hospitality leaders.
  • Global Visitors inspired to explore Uganda’s unique blend of nature, culture, and adventure.

By weaving business networking with genuine cultural celebration, the collaborative effort between Ugandan tourism stakeholders and the Berlin Embassy delivered real results — reinforcing Uganda’s reputation as one of Africa’s most distinctive, compelling, and welcoming destinations. As ITB Berlin 2026 closes, Uganda doesn’t just leave the show — it leaves a lasting impression.
