Additionally, the city is home to the SONARA refinery, the country’s sole crude oil refinery, which contributes to the bustling economic landscape and provides employment opportunities for locals.
Constructed between 2012 and 2014 in the Ngueme district along the SONARA road, just eight kilometers from the urban center, the Limbe Olympic Stadium boasts a seating capacity of 20,000. This impressive venue has played host to numerous prestigious African competitions, such as the 12th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) in 2016, the 6th edition of the CHAN soccer tournament, and AfCON 2021.
