Southern Skies Link Up: Eswatini Air Connects Lusaka and Manzini
Regional travel in Southern Africa just got a major boost as the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) has officially welcomed the launch of direct flights between Lusaka and Manzini, operated by Eswatini Air.
The new route, which commenced on April 1, 2026, represents more than just a new flight path; it is a strategic move to dissolve longstanding connectivity barriers between Zambia and Eswatini.
Why This Matters
For years, travel between these two points often required lengthy layovers or indirect routing. This direct link is expected to drive growth across several sectors:
- Tourism: Opening doors for multi-destination itineraries within Southern Africa.
- Trade: Facilitating easier cross-border collaboration and economic exchange.
- Accessibility: Eswatini Air has signaled a commitment to affordability, aiming to make regional air travel more accessible through competitive fares.

Strategic Milestones
During a recent press briefing, ZTA Acting CEO Ms. Abigail Shansonga characterized the launch as a “testament to the increasing demand for seamless travel options.” The sentiment was echoed by Mr. Getaneh Woldemichael, Director Commercial at Eswatini Air, who highlighted the airline’s dedication to strengthening the regional network.
Key industry leaders, including representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Airline Pros Zambia, have lauded the development as a critical step in making the region a more viable and attractive destination for both business and leisure travelers.
Flight Schedule
The service is currently scheduled to operate twice weekly, making it a convenient option for mid-week business trips or weekend escapes.
- Days: Wednesdays and Fridays
- Route: Lusaka (LUN) – Manzini (SHO)
With direct wings now connecting the heart of Zambia to the Kingdom of Eswatini, the regional tourism landscape is looking significantly more integrated.
