Alain St. Ange is the former Seychelles Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports, and Marine, and a globally recognised tourism leader. Currently heading the “Saint Ange Consultancy,” he previously published the widely-read “Saint Ange Tourism Report” until 2020.
He was appointed Seychelles Director of Marketing in 2009, later becoming CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and in 2012, he was appointed Minister of Tourism and Culture, a role he held until 2016. During his tenure, he transformed Seychelles into a leading global travel destination, driving sustainable tourism, empowering businesses, and attracting significant investments in resorts and hotels.
St. Ange was the first President of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Regional Organisation and the founding President of the African Tourism Board (ATB). He also served on the Executive Council of the UN World Tourism Organization and co-chaired Project Hope, an African COVID-19 response initiative.


His leadership earned him numerous accolades, including the “Commandeur de l’Ordre National” from Madagascar, the“Commandeur de l’Ordre de Moheli” from Comoros, and the “Key of the City” from Detroit, among others. He has been recognised globally for his contributions to tourism, sustainability, and international cooperation, including awards from India, Nigeria, the UK, and South Africa.
In recent years, St. Ange has continued to shape the tourism industry as Vice President of the World Travel Network, Co-Chair of SUNx, and Deputy Secretary-General of FORSEA. He has also been appointed to several advisory boards, including AFASU and the Sayari Dunia Sustainable Tourism Foundation. In 2024, he received a Doctorate Fellow Degree for his exceptional contributions to sustainable tourism and was named “Man of the Year” for Tourism by AFASU.
A prolific speaker and author, St.Ange has addressed global audiences on tourism and air transport, known for his heartfelt and insightful delivery. He has authored several books on Seychelles and has a long-standing history in public service. He was elected to the People’s Assembly representing La Digue in 1979 and to the National Assembly representing Bel Air in 2002, later standing as a Presidential Candidate in the 2020 and 2025 Seychelles elections.
With a background in hotel and tourism management from Germany and France, and experience working in Seychelles, the Channel Islands, and Australia, Alain St. Ange remains a respected and influential figure in international tourism.
