St. Ange to Publish Inside Account of 2025 Seychelles Presidential Race

Alain St. Ange, a prominent candidate in the 2025 Seychelles Presidential Election, has confirmed the upcoming release of a new political history book. The work offers a first-hand account of his bid for State House and provides an incisive look at the inner workings of modern Seychellois politics.

The book, titled Trials of a Candidate: The Untold Story of the 2025 State House Race, is a collaborative effort with his daughter, Michelle St. Ange-Ebrahim—a lawyer currently completing her PhD in Law. The narrative analyzes the 2025 election from the unique perspective of a challenger facing two long-entrenched political powerhouses.

Drawing on personal campaign records, photographs, and legal analysis, the publication lifts the curtain on what St. Ange describes as the “underbelly” of local politics: the unspoken rules, structural imbalances, and systemic pressures faced by those who dare to challenge the status quo.

“We have a story to tell, and we are telling it exactly as we lived it,” said Alain St. Ange. “This is not about leveling accusations. It is about documenting the reality of contesting a national election from the outside. We were the underdogs, and this book allows the public to see—through facts and lived experience—what that journey truly looked like.”

A Legacy of Political Commentary

The book serves as a contemporary companion to St. Ange’s previous works, including Seychelles: What’s Next?Seychelles: In Search of Democracy, and his autobiography, My Journey. It explores the defining themes of the 2025 cycle, specifically the role of significant capital as a decisive factor in political success and the steep barriers faced by non-establishment candidates.

Notably, the publication also confronts the challenges faced by women in the political arena. Despite the frequent description of Seychelles as a matriarchal society, the book examines the disconnect between social structures and political power. It highlights the heightened scrutiny and systemic hurdles encountered by female presidential and vice-presidential candidates attempting to lead in a male-dominated landscape.

A New Chapter

Coinciding with the book’s announcement, Alain St. Ange indicated his retirement from active politics. Reflecting on his most recent campaign, he noted that he answered a call to action with determination but is now ready to shift his focus.

“This has never been about personal ambition,” St. Ange remarked. “I have always sought to serve Seychelles. I answered the call when it came, and I am proud of what we achieved. Now, I am ready to close this political chapter, return to my family, and continue serving my country in other capacities.”

A Historical Record

Co-authored with St. Ange-Ebrahim, the work blends political narrative with rigorous legal context. The authors emphasize that the book is intended as a contribution to democratic discourse and a permanent historical record rather than a personal attack on political rivals.

More than a mere campaign chronicle, Trials of a Candidate positions itself as an unfiltered view of how power is experienced, contested, and defended in Seychelles.

Further details regarding the book’s ISBN, official publication date, and launch events—scheduled for later this year—will be announced in the coming months.
