Ghana-US Travel Relations Expands with Launch of Accra-Atlanta Route by Delta

The much-anticipated Accra–Atlanta seasonal flight was officially launched today at Terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport, marking a major milestone in Ghana’s aviation and tourism strategy. The event, hosted by Delta Air Lines, drew stakeholders across the travel and tourism ecosystem, reaffirming Ghana’s growing reputation as a premier destination for international visitors.

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto, whose presence underscored the Authority’s commitment to expanding Ghana’s connectivity and attracting high-value travelers. Also in attendance was Prince Anthony Bart-Appiah, distinguished GTA Board Member, who highlighted the significance of strategic partnerships in driving national tourism growth.

Delta Air Lines’ introduction of the Accra–Atlanta seasonal service is expected to deepen Ghana–US travel relations, provide seamless access for the Ghanaian diaspora, and boost visitor arrivals, especially during the peak festive window. With Atlanta serving as a major US gateway, the route opens direct access to multiple feeder cities, expanding commercial and leisure opportunities.

Speaking at the launch, industry leaders emphasized that improved flight connectivity is not only about convenience—it is a catalyst for economic impact. The seasonal service will support inbound tourism, stimulate business travel, and enhance the overall experience for visitors participating in flagship national initiatives, including “December in GH.”

Today’s ceremony signals more than a new flight route. It represents Ghana’s forward-looking approach to tourism and investment attraction—one backed by strong institutional collaboration, private sector engagement, and confidence in the country’s long-term growth trajectory.
