New Mandatory Registration Deadline for Tourism Businesses in Zimbabwe

In a significant push to streamline the national tourism sector, the Government of Zimbabwe has announced a mandatory registration drive for all tourism-related businesses. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to improve the Ease of Doing Business while fostering a competitive and sustainable tourism environment for everyone.

To encourage compliance, the government has significantly reduced license and registration fees across all categories. This is a golden opportunity for operators to ensure they are fully compliant with the law at a lower cost.

Key Deadlines & Compliance

Under Section 36 of the Tourism Act [Chapter 14:20], registration with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is a statutory requirement.

  • Registration Deadline: February 28, 2026.
  • Inspections Begin: March 1, 2026.

Important Note: Failure to register will result in the closure of unregistered facilities. The ZTA, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, will be conducting nationwide inspections to verify registration status and take enforcement action against non-compliant operators.

Why Register?

Operating legally is not just about avoiding penalties; it protects the integrity of Zimbabwe’s entire tourism sector. The ZTA strongly discourages the public from utilizing unregistered facilities and encourages citizens to report any businesses operating without valid credentials.

Operators are encouraged to begin their registration process immediately to avoid the last-minute rush. You can get started by:
