Another Feather in the Cap as St. Ange Receives 2026 Clevenard Global Award in Spain
Alicante, SPAIN — Ambassador Alain St. Ange, Ambassador At Large for the Republic of Seychelles and the islands’ former Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, has been presented with the 2026 Clevenard Global Award at the Palacio de Congresos Alicante in Spain.
The award was conferred during the Clevenard conference, held from 27 to 30 August 2026 under the theme, “A Global Celebration of Business, Culture, Creativity and Human Connection.” The event brought together professionals, leaders and innovators from diverse sectors and countries to exchange ideas, celebrate achievement and encourage international collaboration.
The award inscription, read aloud before delegates, stated:
“Clevenard Global Award 2026 — Honouring Global Vision and Impact. Awarded to: Ambassador Alain St. Ange, in recognition of exceptional leadership in tourism and cultural diplomacy, advancing sustainable development, international partnerships, heritage preservation, and global cooperation through visionary service.”
Accepting the honour, Ambassador St. Ange said he was deeply humbled to receive recognition for work that has remained central to Seychelles’ development story.
“I am indeed humbled to be recognised here in Spain for my work in tourism, which is not seen as just an industry for Seychelles because it has been, is and will remain the economy of our islands. We must all remain true to our unique selling points and preserve them like we protect our very own eyes.”
He said the distinction also reflected Seychelles’ continued visibility and leadership within the global tourism community. As a small island nation whose economy is closely tied to its natural environment, culture and accessibility, Seychelles must continue to protect the assets that distinguish it in an increasingly competitive world.
Ambassador St. Ange expressed appreciation to the Clevenard organisers for convening participants from different professions, cultures and regions. He said such platforms are important in creating opportunities for dialogue, shared learning and practical international cooperation.
Throughout his public service and international engagements, Ambassador St. Ange has championed tourism as a driver of economic opportunity, cultural exchange and sustainable development. His work has consistently promoted the protection of heritage, the importance of strong global partnerships and the role of tourism in connecting communities and countries.
As Ambassador At Large for the Republic of Seychelles, he continues to represent the islands internationally while contributing to discussions on tourism development, cultural diplomacy, heritage preservation and cooperation between nations.
