OMAN: MUSCAT TO HAVE LARGEST HOTEL SUPPLY BY 2021

Muscat, the capital of Oman is anticipated to have the largest branded hotel supply by 2021 overtaking Manama in Bahrain, according to data by Colliers International.

By the end of 2019, an additional 2,100 keys will mark their entry into markets of Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat and Amman. A majority of this forthcoming supply, 1,200 keys, is expected in Muscat alone.

According to analysts at Colliers, Oman’s Ministry of Tourism has signed a deal of worth OMR 4.5 million (US$11.7 million) to develop and construct new hotels, restaurants and resorts across the Sultanate.

The ministry is focusing on the development of three-star hotels in outlying regions.

In addition to that, these projects are expected to offer employment opportunities, and assist in the economic development of the country as well further development of the tourism sector in Oman.
