SATIS 2026: South Africa Targets R3.5 Billion in Tourism Investment at Summit
Johannesburg – The Department of Tourism has announced that Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille will host the second South Africa Tourism Infrastructure Investment Summit (SATIS) on Thursday, 1 October 2026, at the Four Seasons Westcliff in Johannesburg.
The invite-only summit aims to connect global leaders, policymakers, and investors with South Africa’s tourism sector, focusing on advancing a sustainable project pipeline and driving infrastructure development.
Expanding the Pipeline
Building on the success of the inaugural SATIS in 2025, the 2026 edition promises a significantly expanded scope. The first summit positioned South Africa as an attractive destination for tourism infrastructure, presenting eight bankable projects with the potential to unlock nearly R1 billion.
“This summit has affirmed tourism as a critical player in economic policy,” Minister de Lille said. “Much was achieved at our inaugural event in 2025.”
For SATIS 2026, the Minister announced a new pipeline of fifteen (15) tourism infrastructure investment opportunities with a combined potential value of R3.5 billion.
“SATIS 2026 will be engaging and will unlock a pipeline of fifteen (15) tourism infrastructure investment opportunities with a potential value of R3,5 billion that will empower our people, grow local economies, and amass South Africa’s competitiveness in the global tourism market,” Minister de Lille added.
Investment Opportunities
The Department of Tourism highlighted that sustained investment in this sector is vital for strengthening the country’s long-term economic resilience and enhancing global competitiveness. Tourism is viewed as South Africa’s most compelling growth sector, with the potential to drive GDP growth, create jobs, and attract foreign direct investment.
The 2026 summit will cover diverse areas including eco-tourism, hospitality infrastructure, cultural heritage tourism, and green innovation. The event will offer attendees:
- Strategic discussions with key decision-makers
- Insights into commercially attractive tourism investment opportunities
- Networking opportunities with project owners and potential investees
