250-Key Crowne Plaza to Open in New Cairo by 2031 Under New IHG Agreement

The agreement underscores IHG’s continued expansion in Egypt, where the brand now operates 10 hotels and aims to meet rising demand from international and domestic travelers.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – IHG Hotels & Resorts has officially signed a management agreement with Kleek Development for a new 250-key Crowne Plaza hotel in New Cairo’s Sixth Settlement. The property is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2031.

Kleek Development is a joint venture between Emaar Al Delta for Contracting and Real Estate Investment and Modern Style Home Real Estate Company. The partnership marks another step in IHG’s expansion across Egypt, a market the company increasingly views as strategically vital.

A Growing Commercial Hub

The new hotel will be situated in the Sixth Settlement, one of Egypt’s fastest-developing mixed-use corridors. The district has seen significant infrastructure investment, population growth, and an influx of commercial businesses, creating a surge in demand for high-quality, internationally branded hospitality.

The Crowne Plaza New Cairo is designed to serve the area’s expanding business, commercial, and residential communities. The property will feature a mix of guest rooms and suites, six meeting and event spaces (including a dedicated ballroom), and four dining venues: an all-dining restaurant, a lobby lounge, a bar, and retail spaces. Leisure amenities will include a swimming pool, fitness centre, and spa.

Adapting to the Modern Traveller

Haitham Mattar, Managing Director of India, Middle East & Africa at IHG Hotels & Resorts, highlighted the shift in traveler behavior as a key driver for the new development.

“Today’s guests rarely separate work and downtime as they once did. They want a hotel that gives them the flexibility to work, connect with colleagues, and switch off – all within the same stay,” Mattar said. “Crowne Plaza New Cairo has been planned with exactly that in mind.”

To support this vision, the hotel will incorporate the brand’s Plaza Workspace, a reimagined lobby concept with dedicated zones for professional and personal activities, as well as WorkLife Rooms that blend connectivity with comfort for work, relaxation, and sleep.

Expanding IHG’s Footprint in Egypt

The signing of Crowne Plaza New Cairo reflects IHG’s broader growth strategy in the region. The company currently operates 10 hotels in Egypt and has 28 more in the pipeline.

Eng. Hussein Dawoud, CEO of Kleek Development, expressed confidence in the project’s potential to become a central part of the local community.

“New Cairo continues to attract strong interest from residents, businesses, and visitors, and we see a clear opportunity to create a high-quality destination that responds to that momentum,” Dawoud said. “With IHG’s global expertise and the strength of the Crowne Plaza brand, we look forward to delivering a hotel that will become a valued part of this growing community.”
