JAZ Elite Adonia Reopens on Zanzibar’s Uroa Beach Under New Luxury Banner

The rebuilt resort on Uroa Beach under JAZ’s new luxury banner opened its doors on 1 October 2026, pitching a reimagined all-inclusive built around ocean views, curated dining and wellness.

JAZ Hotel Group has reopened its Zanzibar resort as JAZ Elite Adonia, relaunching the property on 1 October 2026 under the group’s newly created luxury tier and positioning it as a flagship of its growing East African footprint.

The resort sits along 300 metres of private beach on Uroa, on Zanzibar’s east coast, roughly 45km from Stone Town and the airport. It is being sold as an all-inclusive escape combining ocean-facing rooms, international dining, multiple pools and spa programming.

In its launch messaging, the company leans on a slower, more understated definition of luxury. “Whether you are looking forward to slow mornings by the ocean, relaxed afternoons under the Zanzibar sun or evenings filled with good food and island charm, JAZ Elite Adonia offers the perfect place to reconnect and enjoy the island at your own pace,” the company says.

Part of a broader elite push

The reopening arrives months after JAZ unveiled JAZ Elite Hotels, a concept the group describes as a reimagining of the traditional all-inclusive. Rather than a fixed package, guests can shape their stay through curated dining encounters under the JAZ Flavors programme and integrated wellness offerings delivered through Mividaspa.

The collection spans beachfront properties across Egypt and Zanzibar, including JAZ Elite Crystal in Almaza Bay, JAZ Elite Asteria in Sahl Hasheesh, JAZ Elite Riviera, Elite Amara and Elite Maraya in Marsa Alam, Elite Palace in Sharm El Sheikh, Elite Casa Del Mar in Hurghada and JAZ Elite Aurora in Zanzibar.

A three-resort Zanzibar play

Adonia is one of three Zanzibar openings that mark JAZ’s debut in the market. JAZ Amaluna – Adults Only opened on Uroa Beach on 1 March 2026 with 211 rooms, oceanfront dining and wellness facilities, while JAZ Elite Aurora was positioned as the group’s most sophisticated address on the island, billed as home to Zanzibar’s largest pool and a 120-metre jetty bar.

Adonia originally debuted as part of that same three-property announcement, where it was described as a 192-room resort set in landscaped grounds with varied dining options.

What it signals

For JAZ — long associated with high-volume, family-oriented Red Sea resorts — the Zanzibar cluster represents a deliberate step upmarket. Splitting the portfolio into adults-only, lifestyle and elite tiers lets the group compete on service depth rather than room count alone, a familiar playbook in a destination increasingly crowded with international all-inclusive operators.

Direct bookings currently carry discounts of up to 20%, per the group’s promotional terms.
