Fastjet Zimbabwe Extends Airbus A320 Operations Through October Amid Surge in Travel Demand
Harare, Zimbabwe – Regional carrier fastjet Zimbabwe has announced an extension of its Airbus A320 operations under its ongoing Flying Programme, with the larger aircraft now scheduled to remain in service through the end of October 2026. The decision follows a significant and sustained increase in passenger demand since the aircraft was initially introduced in early August.
The announcement arrives just as the airline prepares to participate in the upcoming Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbabwe Tourism Expo, taking place in Masvingo from September 9 to 12, 2026.
Originally deployed on August 1, 2026, the Airbus A320 was brought into the fastjet fleet to bolster capacity during the peak travel months of August and September. The wide-body jet has been servicing some of the airline’s highest-demand corridors, specifically the Victoria Falls to Johannesburg and Harare to Johannesburg routes.
Due to the strong performance and high load factors recorded over the past several weeks, fastjet confirmed that the A320 will not only continue operating until late October but is also slated to return for the December festive period to accommodate holiday travelers.

Cortes highlighted that the upgrade in aircraft size has allowed the airline to roll out enhanced onboard amenities, noting that their newly launched Business Premium product has been highly successful. “It appeals not only to our corporate travellers but also to leisure customers who value the added benefits it brings, from generous luggage allowances and dedicated ground services to a thoughtfully elevated inflight experience.”
The extended deployment aligns with the airline’s broader strategy to ensure sufficient seating capacity ahead of the busy October business season and the December holidays. “This extension allows us to ensure sufficient capacity during the month of October and the peak December festive period. It reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering the standard of service our customers have come to expect from fastjet Zimbabwe,” Cortes concluded.
