Gambia Halts All Open-Air Music and Public Events in Tourism Zones

The Gambia Tourism Board has issued an immediate suspension of all open-air music and public entertainment events within the designated Tourism Development Area (TDA), citing safety and security concerns.

The directive, effective immediately, bans concerts, beach parties, festivals, and other public entertainment gatherings in the TDA until further notice. The Board described the move as a precautionary measure aimed at safeguarding the tourism industry, maintaining public order, and protecting the safety of tourists, residents, workers, and local businesses.

“All organisers and promoters are required to comply fully with this directive,” the Board stated in a press release dated 29 September 2026.

The suspension covers events held on beaches and other open-air venues within the TDA. The Board has urged all stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies and competent authorities to preserve peace and public safety throughout the affected zones.

The situation will be closely monitored in consultation with security agencies, tourism stakeholders, local authorities, and other partners. The Board confirmed that any decision to review or lift the suspension will be communicated through official channels.
