IHG Brings Holiday Inn to Aswan with Two New Hotels Set for 2029 and 2030

Cairo, Egypt – IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed management agreements for two new Holiday Inn properties in Aswan, marking the brand’s debut in one of Egypt’s most culturally rich tourist destinations. Partnering with Misr Holanda and Avenue for Development, the deal will add 400 rooms to IHG’s Egyptian portfolio, with openings scheduled for 2029 and 2030.

The first property, Holiday Inn Aswan, will comprise 200 rooms and is set to open in 2029. Located near the city centre, it will provide convenient access to major historical sites and cater to both domestic and international tourists. The hotel will feature three dining options and five versatile meeting spaces.

The second, Holiday Inn Resort New Aswan, will also offer 200 rooms and is scheduled to open in 2030. Situated in the newly developed New Aswan area, this resort-style property aims to serve travelers seeking a blend of natural beauty and cultural immersion in an emerging part of the city.

“Egypt remains a priority growth market for IHG,” said Haitham Mattar, Managing Director for India, Middle East & Africa at IHG. “These signings reflect our long-term commitment to the country and our confidence in Aswan’s potential as a key tourism hub.”

Dr. Eng. Ibrahim Sadek, CEO of Misr Holanda and Avenue for Development, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership:

“With IHG’s global expertise and the strength of the Holiday Inn brand, we are confident these hotels will become vital additions to Aswan’s hospitality landscape.”

Aswan, renowned for its Nile vistas, Nubian heritage, and ancient sites like the Temple of Philae, continues to attract growing numbers of visitors. This expansion aligns with IHG’s broader presence in Egypt, where it currently operates 10 hotels across five brands and has a pipeline of 23 more projects underway.
