Liberia & Malta Forge Strategic Tourism Partnership During High-Level Official Visit
Valletta, Malta — In a significant move to bolster international cooperation, a high-level delegation from the Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA) concluded a successful official visit to Malta this April 2026. The visit marks a pivotal step in strengthening bilateral ties, specifically focusing on the intersection of tourism, education, and digital innovation.
Strengthening Diplomatic and Economic Ties
Led by Director General Hon. Princess Eva Cooper, the Liberian delegation engaged in a series of strategic dialogues aimed at fostering sustainable growth. The program was organized in collaboration with DELAWS Group Ltd., under the leadership of Managing Director Mr. Karl Farrugia Whismayer.

The high-level delegation included:
- Ambassador Onue Taylor
- Mr. Giuliano Alarcon, Senior Counsellor for African-European Cooperation, International Relations, and Strategic Partnership
- Mrqs. Anthony C. Coleiro, who facilitated the coordination of the program in collaboration with the LNTA.
A Focus on Innovation and Workforce Mobility
Throughout the visit, discussions centered on tourism development, capacity building, and digital transformation. A primary goal was the alignment of education and training frameworks with the evolving demands of the global tourism industry.
The delegation engaged with leading Maltese institutions, including Easy School of Languages and Easy Job Bridge. These interactions highlighted best practices in vocational training and structured international mobility programmes—such as Erasmus+—which were recognized for their role in enhancing international employability and cross-cultural exchange.
To address the digital future of travel, the program featured a presentation of City Explorer Malta, an innovative GPS-guided tourism platform. The demonstration showcased how digital solutions can enhance visitor engagement and promote cultural heritage through immersive experiences.
Key Milestone: The LNTA and DELAWS Group MoU
A major milestone of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the LNTA and DELAWS Group Ltd. This formal agreement establishes a roadmap for:
- Joint Initiatives: Collaborative projects to boost tourism growth.
- Knowledge Exchange: Sharing expertise in sustainable practices.
- Capacity Building: Developing programs to support innovation-driven tourism.
“This visit reflects a shared commitment to advancing international cooperation through education, innovation, and strategic partnerships,” the delegation stated, “laying the groundwork for tangible outcomes in sustainable tourism development and economic growth.”
