Uganda Conquers German Market: A Week of Culture, Investment, and the “Pearl of Africa”
Düsseldorf & Munich, Germany — In a decisive move to solidify its position in the European long-haul market, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), alongside the Embassy of Uganda in Berlin, successfully concluded a high-impact promotional week in Germany. From June 23 to June 28, 2026, the “Uganda Roadshow 2026” and the “Uganda Tourism, Culture & Investment Forum” transformed Düsseldorf and Munich into hubs for African travel innovation, forging critical links between Ugandan enterprises and over 70 German travel specialists.
Bridging the Gap: Business and Biodiversity
The core of the activation was a series of strategic Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings that connected German travel agents, tour operators, and media representatives with a delegation from the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) and the Exclusive Sustainable Tour Operators Association (ESTOA).
The agenda moved beyond standard brochures. Presentations showcased a diversified portfolio of experiences designed to appeal to the modern, conscious traveler:
- Primate Encounters: The crown jewel of Uganda’s offering, mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
- Wildlife Safaris: Exploring the rich ecosystems of Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Parks.
- Niche Experiences: Faith-based tourism, culinary journeys, and luxury sustainable travel options.

Mr. Francis Nyende Hatinda, Marketing Manager at the UTB, led immersive destination presentations. He emphasized Uganda’s improved accessibility and its evolving reputation, urging German partners to integrate the “Pearl of Africa” into their core catalogues as a must-visit destination for 2026 and beyond.
A Cultural Immersion
The roadshow was not merely transactional; it was a vibrant cultural exchange. German audiences were treated to traditional music, dance, fashion showcases, and storytelling that brought Ugandan heritage to the heart of Bavaria and the Rhineland.
In a move to foster tangible engagement, several German agents won tourism prize giveaways supported by Ugandan partners. The highlight was a mountain gorilla trekking permit donated by Exclusive Uganda Safaris, offering a direct, high-value incentive for agents to begin selling Uganda’s primate experiences.
Investment and Diaspora Engagement
The momentum continued in Munich from June 26–28 with the Uganda Tourism, Culture & Investment Forum. This three-day event diversified its focus to include economic and social integration:
- Diaspora Sensitization: Sessions led by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Immigration Services, and the State House Diaspora Unit provided clarity on investment and settlement opportunities.
- Federation Launch: A milestone moment was the official launch of the Federation of Ugandans in Germany.
- Biker Association: The forum also saw the flag-off of the Federation of Uganda Bikers Association Roadshow, signaling a growing interest in adventure tourism and community engagement.
Ms. Jessica Namuddu, Foreign Secretary at the Ugandan Embassy in Berlin, and Mr. Bagonza Mohammed, representing the State House Diaspora Unit, underscored the importance of coordinated partnerships. They highlighted how government ministries, private sector players, and the diaspora can work in unison to drive sustainable development.
The Road Ahead
The overwhelmingly positive response from German travel professionals has reaffirmed a growing global demand for authentic African experiences. The Uganda Tourism Board noted that these connections are expected to generate new business opportunities, increase visitor arrivals, and stimulate foreign investment.
As Uganda expands its international marketing footprint, the partnerships forged in Düsseldorf and Munich mark a pivotal step toward diversifying source markets. With its blend of wildlife, culture, and investment potential, Destination Uganda is poised to become a leading choice for the German-speaking travel market.
