Inaugural Namibia Travel Market (NTM) Set for November 2026, HAN to Sponsor Welcoming Sundowner

The Hospitality Association of Namibia will sponsor the Welcoming Sundowner at the first Namibia Travel Market, which completed its domestic launch on 14 October 2026 and now moves toward its inaugural physical gathering on 18–19 November at Droombos, Windhoek — a trade event built around the promise of luxury that gives back.

The Namibia Travel Market (NTM) completed its formal domestic launch on 14 October 2026 at Droombos, Windhoek, with the Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN) confirmed as sponsor of the event’s Welcoming Sundowner.

The market was first unveiled internationally in May 2026 by the Namibia Tourism Board and the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism at Africa’s Travel Indaba in Durban. Wednesday’s event marked its first home-ground appearance before Namibian media and partners, ahead of an inaugural physical industry gathering and trade exhibition on 18 and 19 November 2026 at Droombos.

The expo has been framed as a strategic pivot: a deliberate attempt to position Namibia as a premier African hub for luxury, purpose-driven and sustainable eco-tourism, rather than competing purely on volume.

What the Market is for

NTM is being pitched as Namibia’s annual meeting point for the tourism industry. It will convene the people and organisations shaping the country’s visitor economy through an Industry Summit, a trade exhibition, dedicated B2B networking and the Namibia Travel Market Festival Party.

Organisers say the event is designed for lodge owners, tour operators, airlines, conservation organisations, destination managers, hospitality suppliers, entrepreneurs and investors — anyone with a stake in connecting with partners, surfacing new ideas and growing business.

Confirmed programme elements include keynote presentations, panel discussions, practical workshops, an interactive trade exhibition, structured B2B meetings, informal networking across both days, and the closing Festival Party.

“Luxury with Purpose”

The 2026 edition runs under the theme “Luxury with Purpose”, promoting tourism that benefits both the wider economy and the communities that host it. The format deliberately places established tourism businesses alongside emerging entrepreneurs, community-based enterprises and international buyers, with the stated aim of generating linkages that keep more of tourism’s value inside Namibia.

That emphasis on local benefit was echoed at the launch by the Market’s Patron, the Honourable Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Indileni Daniel, who stressed collaboration as the precondition for growth. According to organisers, the Minister argued that NTM’s success should be measured not by attendance or applause but by the business it generates and the tangible wealth it creates for Namibians.

A Sundowner as a Statement of Intent

For HAN, the sponsorship is framed as an invitation rather than a branding exercise. The association said it looks forward to welcoming industry colleagues, partners and stakeholders to the Welcoming Sundowner — described as a celebration of partnership, connection and the shared future of Namibian tourism.

The venue reinforces the positioning. Droombos Estate, which opened in 2018, has established itself as one of Namibia’s leading lifestyle and hospitality destinations, set among landscaped gardens and ancient camelthorn trees.

“Together, let us grow an industry that works for Namibia and its people,” the organisers wrote in announcing the launch.

Programme details and registration are published on the official website.
