Statesmanship in Seychelles: A Blueprint for the Modern African Leader
Clevenard Groupe commends Seychelles’ leadership shift, hails strategic appointment of Alain St. Ange as Ambassador At Large as a masterclass
Palma de Mallorca, Spain – In a powerful endorsement of African statesmanship, Adefaratoluwa Osindero Olutimehin, Founder and Global Owner of Clevenard Groupe, has formally commended the President of Seychelles, Patrick Herminie, for his recent decision to appoint former political rival Alain St. Ange as Ambassador At Large for the Republic.
The move, which follows the highly competitive 2025 Presidential Elections, is being hailed as a masterclass in “nation-building over partisan politics.”
A Vision Beyond the Ballot Box
In a statement issued from Spain, Mr. Olutimehin emphasized that true leadership transcends winning elections. “Leadership is not only about winning elections or holding power,” Olutimehin noted, “but about having the wisdom, maturity, and courage to unite a nation beyond political differences.”

The 2025 elections in Seychelles saw a tight race between President Patrick Herminie, incumbent Wavel Ramkalawan, and international tourism icon Alain St. Ange. Despite the intensity of the campaign, President Herminie’s decision to integrate St. Ange into his administration signals a departure from the “winner-takes-all” mentality often seen in global politics.
Prioritizing Competence Over Rivalry
Alain St. Ange, a figure synonymous with the global growth of Seychelles’ tourism sector, is widely respected across the international community for his diplomatic acumen. By appointing him as Ambassador At Large, President Herminie has effectively converted a former opponent into a national asset.
“His decision to appoint Alain St. Ange… sends a powerful message that competence, experience, and patriotism should always come before political rivalry,” said Olutimehin.
The Seychelles National Assembly has since approved the appointment, solidifying a unified front for the nation’s diplomatic and economic interests.
A Blueprint for the African Continent
Mr. Olutimehin’s statement also addressed the broader perception of African governance. He argued that while Africa is often unfairly portrayed through a negative lens regarding democracy, exemplary acts of maturity like those seen in Seychelles must be celebrated “loudly and proudly.”
“Africa’s future will become stronger when leaders begin to see capable citizens as national assets rather than political enemies,” Olutimehin stated. He further urged other African nations to view the Seychelles example as an inspiration to place national progress above ego.
Clevenard Groupe’s Commitment
As the head of Clevenard Groupe, Olutimehin reaffirmed the organization’s mission to champion African excellence. The group remains committed to celebrating the institutions and leaders that promote peace, collaboration, and visionary governance.
“Seychelles has set a remarkable example,” the statement concluded, “and I sincerely hope more African nations will follow this path of unity, maturity, and purposeful leadership.”
